Where do you want to go this weekend?

These destinations have interesting things to do or are near natural amenities.  If you live within a 3-hour drive of these places, two to three days gives you enough time to enjoy the area. Georgia

Blue Ridge - Quaint downtown, great hiking with nearby access to the Appalachian Trail and Benton-Mckay Trail, Lake Blue Ridge is great for kayaking, Morganton Point Recreation Area for camping. 
Clayton - Quaint town, near Black Rock Mountain State Park for camping. Steep terrain hiking. 
Dahlonega - Quaint downtown, access to the Appalachian Trail, Amicalola Falls State Park for camping.
Lake Hartwell - Quiet kayaking or fishing with camping at Tugaloo State Park.
Macon - Five different museums, Ocmulgee National Historic Park, interesting architecture, and great music history. Camping is available within a 30-minute drive of downtown at Indian Springs State Park or High Falls State Park/Dames Ferry.
Augusta - Great riverwalk, golf history, kayaking on Clarks Hill Lake, flat-terrain hiking, and fishing at Mistletoe State Park.
Red Top Mountain - Lake Allatoona for kayaking, nearby Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield, camping at the Red Top State Park
Jekyll - Driftwood beach, the Millionaire’s Village, The Sea Turtle Center, miles of bike paths, private campground on the island
St. Mary's - Ferry to Cumberland National Seashore, camping at Crooked River State Park, and a charming town

Crystal River - Kayaking Kings Bay, swim with the manatees, fishing, fun downtown shopping
Sanibel Island - Lovely beaches, bikeable island, lots of beach-themed shopping, galleries
St. George Island - Natural beaches, fishing, a beach house community vibe, State Park camping on island
Apalachicola - Quaint town, fishing, oysters

Baltimore, MD - Inner Harbor, great restaurants, Patterson Park is a lovely green “Central Park” of Baltimore, camping at Capitol KOA or Bar Harbor RV Campground and Marina on the Chesapeake Bay
St. Michaels, MD - Maritime Museum, lovely downtown, wineries, antique car museum, camping at Tuckahoe State Park
Oxford, MD - “Prettiest Coastal Town in America” quaint historic town on the Chesapeake Bay, camp at Tuckahoe State Park
Cape May, NJ - Charming Victorian homes, lovely beach, walkable historic town, camping at a private RV resort
Atlantic Highlands, NJ - Stone Bridge, 911 Monument, charming downtown, a lovely harbor, no camping nearby!
